Our Organization
Black to the Land Coalition is a nonprofit whose mission is to connect Black, Brown, and Indigenous people to outdoor recreation and nature-based programs. This connection is intended to truly address equity outdoors and increase the number of people of color as environmentalists and stewards of the land. We believe that you protect what you love, and we are asking for support to continue our mission in our community.
Our Plan
We understand that the best way to build equity in the outdoors is not through participation in outdoor recreation, but in training up our community, particularly our youth, so that they become the next leaders of all things outdoors and nature-related. This also allows us to ensure our organization and mission are sustainable because as we provide training and certification opportunities to the people we serve, they can reach and teach others.
Our Needs
We require unrestricted funding to help us with operational costs such as technology needs, additional storage facility, and a vehicle for our gear/equipment for the events we host. The capacity restriction is a huge barrier to our growth and ability to continue increasing our program offerings.
We also seek to provide educational, and training opportunities to improve the skill sets of our community. Again, this will allow us to not only create a mission that lives on beyond us non-founders, but we also believe this will open green career pathways for people of color.
Your Help
You can help us address some of our needs by supporting us in this fundraiser hike. You can donate as an individual by providing whatever you can. We also ask that you share with your network of friends, family, and organizations. Share with them why you believe our organization is so important.
As a company/organization, you can donate as a way to fulfill your commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and green sustainability efforts. We are happy to provide a receipt for tax purposes, a letter of gratitude, acknowledging your donation, and an end-of-the-year annual report of how we utilized the funds of this fundraiser.
